Are you sure you’re drinking enough water? We all know it, but hardly any of us actually do it: drinking enough water. Health experts recommend a minimum intake of eight glasses of water per day for optimum wellness of your body. And you need to drink even more on hot days! Water is the natural detox method for your body with which it drains all the waste out of the body.
You can easily notice it if you haven't drunk enough water. You'll have a slight headache, a dry mouth, sticky saliva, a lack of energy and a reduced urine output with dark yellow urine. It has happened to all of us and it's not that much fun. It's just quite hard to drink water most of the time because there is coffee and tea to be drunk, and juices and soda's in the fridge calling out to us.
Water also plays an elementary role within any weight loss program and diet. Water doesn't contain any calories, but it does contain all the vitamins, minerals and nutritional elements that our body needs to remain healthy.
However, not drinking enough water can do quite a bit of damage to the body without us noticing it at first. So let's try to drink a bit more water, shall we? Here are some tips on how to drink clever and make water a bit more appealing at the same time.
Add a bit of lemon juice to your water.

After just a few days of drinking plain water you tend to get a bit bored with it. You can add a bit of a nutritional bite to your water by adding a teaspoon or less of lemon to your water. You can also try other fruit juices. Just don't overdo it and be sure that you're still drinking mainly water. A splash of juice makes things a bit more interesting without adding a lot of sugars or calories.
Try some Club Soda
If you're simply craving the fizzy vibe of soda, try some Club Soda. It still gives you the buzz without having to much fizz in it like other brands usually have. You can also add a (nutritional) splash of fruit juice to it.
Drink water when you're feeling hungry
This might sound a bit weird, but nine out of ten times the body actually needs water instead of food when we feel hungry. Over time we've gotten so out of tune with our bodies and health that we simply not understand the signals our body gives us anymore. So try drinking some water when you feel hungry because you might actually be thirsty. This tip is particularly useful when trying to lose weight. You can prevent eating unnecessary calories and therefore prevent becoming overweight.
Carry a bottle of water with you
You want to make drinking water as easy as possible for yourself. It's much easier to drink water when you have it readily available. So always have a bottle of water with you in the car, at work, while shopping and so on. This way you'll be sipping water all day without really noticing it.
Try to keep track of how much water you actually drink during the day and implement some of these tips to make it a bit easier for yourself. You will not only be maintaining your body's health, but you're also detoxing and losing weight at the same time! Your body will thank you for it in the long run.
